Welcome to the AfricaWide Movement for ChildrenThough a lot is being done to alleviate the plight of children in Africa, children are still suffering because of various mishaps targeting them and the environment that they live in. The need for workable policies, better medical and nutritional supply, peace and safety as well as better cultural and educational systems begs more to be done. The AfricaWide Movement was launched in May 2008 and endorsed by the participants of the Second Consultative Meeting of African Child, Youth and Human Rights Organizations organized by The African Child Policy Forum. The Movement serves as a tool that would point out the plight of children in African countries and push concerned bodies towards this agenda. It is a coordinated African voice for children in the continent that would advocate and lobby for the promotion and protection of the best interests of the child in Africa. By so doing, it promotes solidarity and provides the platform for support and collaboration amongst child rights organizations. It also promotes accountability amongst child rights organizations with respect to the children under their care. Membership The Movement is a membership organization of child-focused organizations/networks institutions supporting children’s issues in Africa and individual child activists. Organizational Structure The Movement has a General Assembly, a body of Custodians and a Secretariat. The African Child Policy Forum is currently serving as the Secretariat of the Movement. |

Currently the Movement has about 200 members and the size keeps growing by the day.
